The Ministry of Investment Promotion (MIP) is the prime mover among the ministries in the country that is responsible for foreign direct investment in Sri Lanka and export earnings, and it will continue to enhance the business ecosystem and play a central role in aligning with the development goals set with the government’s economic strategies.

The tasks ahead as MIP officials are not only to “build back the country, but build back a better country”. The current crisis cannot be restored by external financing support only. We, as Sri Lankans should take this as a unique opportunity to transform a highly competitive, export-oriented economy. Therefore, the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), Export Development Board (EDB), and Port City-Colombo must embark on a new journey to address the challenges faced today. Accordingly, some policy decisions have been taken to attract the country’s most suitable, sustainable, and effective FDI and export growth.

In today’s context, it is important for the MIP to play the strategic leadership role of the key drivers of the nation’s economy. The BOI, the EDB, and Colombo Port City will be the catalysts and drivers of the nation’s foreign exchange earnings in future years.
